Niax Changes (Part 1)

Sorry for no addition last week, I’ve been trying to think on what to write since i lost most of my articles because my old computer became unusable and is now in the shop. So I have been wracking my brain on what to add. This first part just shows the difference between the different lifestealers. The first one from 2005 and the most recent based on modern abilities. Next week I will go into a more descriptive look at possible reasons for changes and what these two lifestealers were good at and how they differ and are the same.  A look at how these changes were added and when. I will try and keep it in three parts but no promises This Niax was in Dota 1’s infancy but changed to the current iteration before Dota 1 ended.

Past Niax
Type: Passive, 0 radius Vampiric Aura
N’aix restores some of his life force by eating flesh.

Level 1 – Regains 10% of attack damage.
Level 2 – Regains 20% of attack damage.
Level 3 – Regains 30% of attack damage.
Level 4 – Regains 40% of attack damage.

N’aix’s signature skill, Feast. It’s the best lifesteal in the game, and is now back to an aura effect. This skill will allow you to stay in your lane as your enemies are harassing you (note: this will only happen in mid-game, because early game your damage is too low to replenish health lost from harassing).

Poison Sting
Type: Passive, single target movement speed debuff with slight damage
Naix’s attacks sting, adding a slight poison-based damage and significantly slowing movement speed. Lasts 2 seconds.

Level 1 – Deals 2 damage per second and slows movement speed by 10%.
Level 2 – Deals 4 damage per second and slows movement speed by 20%.
Level 3 – Deals 7 damage per second and slows movement speed by 30%.
Level 4 – Deals 10 damage per second and slows movement speed by 40%.

N’aix’s chasing skill. Nothing special, just a whoop-ass slow of 40% in addition to the 9% movement speed boost from Anabolic Frenzy. That’s a 49% movement speed difference between you and your enemy. This is also the skill that earns N’aix his ‘one hit and you’re dead’ notoriety, because it’s pretty damn near impossible to escape from Poison Sting.

Anabolic Frenzy
Type: Passive, 0 radius Endurance Aura
Increases the attack speed and movement of N’aix.

Level 1 – 3% movement and 10% attack.
Level 2 – 5% movement and 20% attack.
Level 3 – 7% movement and 30% attack.
Level 4 – 9% movement and 40% attack.

Icing on the cake. Extra movement speed, a nice addition to N’aix’s backstabbing and chasing arsenal, and increased attack speed, which is a good thing to have for any hero.

Type: Avatar
Shrugging off magic spells as if they were insects, Na’ix closes in on his prey, poison oozing from his jaws and a maddened rage in his eyes…

Mana Cost: 150/200/250
Level 1 – Adds 10 bonus damage and lasts for 15 seconds.
Level 2 – Adds 20 bonus damage and lasts for 20 seconds.
Level 3 – Adds 30 bonus damage and lasts for 25 seconds.

One of the strongest skills N’aix has, Rage allows him to kill those low health disablers and spellcasters with nary a scratch. Using this in a team battle also prevents AOE spells from damaging you in the chaos. The extra damage is significant early-mid game where your damage is low. You’d be silly if you said Rage was weak.
